After 1 week monitoring the beaches Algodoeiro to Ponta Sino, (6 km), we have found what is shown on the pictures. The problem is that the tourist that walks the beach they have seen horrified as well. We even had to rescue egges from the rest of a butchered turtle. Actually now we do have a total of 117 eggs in two nests on our 40 nests protected prepared area. And we have 6 fresh dead turtles in the same period.

We are considered tourism investors, but as dive professionals we also like to be known as ocean ambassadors, we do instruct and show the marine bottoms to many people. Dr. Luis Felipe did request us to help protect loggerhead turtles nests (www.tortugasmarinas.org). We were given practical training and information by traslating 73 eggs to a protected area wich has been constructed at the beach in front of our watersports center.

What can we do?, well we know we are not professionals in this matters, but we have to our best to save and to hide from visitors at least. We know we have to get the local statements to start measurements, and we also know that increasing number of visitors will have their opinion on this matter that will affectone or other way.

We would really like to support with cultural information in schools, protection operation during turtle season, Underwater profesional image to all this exposed completely out of ant lucrative prespective, and surely start a fund to distribute and protect any kind of materials needed to do so.
